Puppy Checklist
Preparing yourself for a new puppy is one of the most important things you can do, reading up on the care, nutrition and health to name a few things. Getting the right products can save you time and money, to make your puppy feel welcome from the moment you bring them home.
We have put together an essential checklist to make sure you don’t forget anything!
Checklist
Bed or basket should be comfortable and secure, washable is best in case of accidents!
Food and water bowls to suit his current age. Too big a bowl could cause him to accidentally walk or fall into his food or water. Ceramic or stainless steel are best.
Brush and comb. Grooming time helps to build a trusting relationship between puppy and owner, and keeps the skin and coat healthy. Regular grooming can also highlight and skin problems or growths.
Worming tablets or cream suitable for his age – our staff can advise you.
Flea Spot On suitable for your puppy’s age and weight. A flea comb is also advisable. We also advise that you protect your house as well as your puppy!
Various toys for play and training and of course, teething!
Lightweight collar and lead, or harness. Although not needed immediately, it is good to get your puppy used to wearing them.
Nail clippers or nail file get him used to having his nails clipped at a young age will help you and him when he’s older!
Toilet training aids and petsafe disinfectants for cleaning up ‘accidents’.
Pet safe repellants or anti-chew sprays to keep puppy away from unsafe areas or your best furniture!
Puppy crate for housetraining and securing your puppy for short periods of time.
Car crate, transporter, car divider or car harness for traveling safely with your puppy.
Puppy books. We stock breed-specific books on training, behaviour and general care. It is best to learn as much as possible about your new pet. Don’t always believe what you read on the internet, books are often more reliable.
